I Used to Work with Makeup

Yes, I did. I worked with makeup application and instruction. Even though this picture is beautiful, and my company does promote this product, I don't do much of the application and instruction anymore. Let me tell you why.

I first became a Melaleuca customer before I became a marketing executive for them. I went to work with them for several reasons. First, I absolutely was astounded by the results of what I was using. I was NOT using skin care or color cosmetics with them at the time. I was pretty hooked on the product I was using, and had been for decades. But the prices were so good with everything else--way cheaper than I could buy it in the stores, and they started sending me checks. I was a customer; I wasn't working at all. That got my attention.

The second reason was my work with cosmetics didn't excite my very male family at all. They were happy I was doing something I enjoyed, but it wasn't something they were interested in. We are a family with family owned businesses, and we feel it's important to mentor your children in making a living (whether they go to college or not). Makeup really didn't make the grade with my guys for that.

So far...I had a company that was already sending me money before I was working, and products that my husband and two boys would be interested in and prices that beat Sprouts or Whole Foods sometimes by up to 70% (depending on the product) with the same or higher quality. Okay...so now I was really interested.

Then I started learning some things--like the fact that the laundry detergent I was using, which was a whopping $9 more per 96 loads, cleans with clay and fiberglass. No wonder they don't want you to use that stuff with babies! Plus, we are on a septic system. Clay is REALLY bad for a leach field. Then I learned about parabens and pthalates and carcinogens--none of which are in any of Melaleuca's bath and body products or makeup items. I learned that it takes only 29 seconds for these chemicals that are found, even in high end makeup lines, to absorb into your body.

All of Melaleuca's products are safe--for me, my family, my friends, and the environment. I can pour cleaner directly on my plants and it will only feed them and make them happy. There are no child guard lids because they aren't needed. I can clean my shower safely while taking a shower.

Now I was pretty convinced, but then there was one more thing that was the kicker for me.

We have a special needs kid. That special needs kid is expensive--hence the term 'special needs' equalling more needs. With adoption fees and doctors and counseling... We didn't add debt, but we burned through our retirement. When I showed Melaleuca to our financial planner, his response was, "This is almost like an annuity." That combined with the fact that I don't have to have a retirement date; the work is something that a retired aged person can do on a part-time basis; AND when I can't work, I still get paid.

So I don't teach skin care or make-up application anymore. I'm a marketing executive, and I open shopping accounts for this very successful company that sports a 95% retention rate (I'd not seen that anywhere else either).

If you have any interest at all--either in a business (part or full-time) or in saving money as a customer--please message me. I'd love to help.
